Today we’d like to introduce you to Antonio Teoli.

Hi Antonio, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’m Antonio Teoli, a composer specializing in video games, films, and television. Recently, I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with renowned music artists like Bruce Dickinson from Iron Maiden, Graham Bonnet, and the band Angra, enriching my portfolio with diverse experiences and creative partnerships.

My musical journey began at the age of 7 when my parents gifted me a Casio keyboard, sparking a lifelong passion. Growing up in São Paulo, Brazil, music was deeply woven into my cultural heritage and family life, particularly with my father, a former guitar player.

My musical odyssey continued as I joined a local orchestra at 12, playing the tuba as my first classical instrument. At 15, I felt in love with the guitar and music composition in earnest, solidifying my aspiration to pursue a career in music. By 16, I ventured into video game composition, laying the foundation for my professional path.

At 17, while pursuing my studies, I seized an opportunity to join a game development company in Brazil as their in-house composer and sound designer. As the first Brazilian game composer in the company, I embarked on a groundbreaking journey, engaging with the media and demonstrating the potential of a career in the gaming industry.

This transformative experience led me to the vibrant city of Los Angeles, where I continue to pursue my passion amidst the dynamic landscape of entertainment and creativity.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Following an artistic path is not an easy journey. For many reasons…

Financially speaking, nobody that I know decided to venture into the music profession to make money. It is a 100% passion-driven profession, and money is a consequence. So, in that realm, there were amazing moments but also scared ones.

On an emotional level, artists are traditionally more sensitive, especially when showcasing their music to others and their expectations soar. There’s anxiety, fear, and insecurities, but as long as you understand that the climb is awesome and reaching the top of the mountain is temporary, you’ll do well.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
90% of my work is connected to video games, which makes sense as it’s the core title associated with my name. The connection is inevitable after scoring almost 500 games.

Choosing favorite projects is always tough, but the ones closest to my heart include Nintendo’s ‘Good Job!’, Sonic Symphony’s 30th Anniversary, Netflix’s ‘Nailed It!’, ‘Dolmen,’ ‘Stormbound,’ the Walking Dead campaign for the game ‘The Sandbox’, and some anime series for which I composed additional music alongside the Japanese composer Yoshihiro Ike, such as Shadowverse, Takt-op, and Noblesse. Currently, I’m working on a very cool mobile game with an anime style, collaborating with the legendary Bruce Dickinson and composing for a huge documentary.

Beyond game audio production, which nowadays is all centered through my company, Andromeda Sound LLC, I’m also very proud of the Amazonian sound library I created three years ago. Called ‘The Amazonic AMA I,’ it’s a valuable tool with over 100 instruments ready to be played in the form of an audio plugin by composers and producers. A portion of the profits goes back to natives and musicians who were part of the project, as well as for social causes in the Amazon state. This library is sold by my other audio company called Sounds of the Earth LLC.

Lastly, I have my online school called Game Audio School, where people can access audio courses for a very affordable price.

I believe that learning to diversify is vital in the music business.
