BIG Festival 2017 to Feature Gerard Marino, Composer of God of War Series
Olympian Trumpets to Sound in São Paulo!
Gerard Marino, the composer behind the epic music of the *God of War* series, will be at the BIG Festival 2017. On June 28, at 10 a.m., Marino will lead a special panel at the BIG Business Forum, moderated by Brazilian game composer Antonio Teoli, in the Adoniran Barbosa room.
During the panel, Marino will share insights on entering the game music industry, discuss his work, and recount his impressive journey from DJ to renowned composer. The BIG Festival 2017 will take place from June 24 to July 2 at the Centro Cultural São Paulo, with free admission. Directly from Los Angeles, Gerard Marino is a composer for video games, films, and TV series. One of his most significant contributions was composing the soundtrack for the original *God of War*, as well as *God of War II*, *God of War: Chains of Olympus*, *God of War: Ill*, and *God of War: Ghost of Sparta*. His work on *God of War II* earned him a BAFTA nomination, one of the highest honors from the British Academy of Film and Television Arts.
Marino's portfolio also includes major titles from Activision, such as *Gun*, *Spider-Man: Edge of Time*, and *The Amazing Spider-Man 2*, a 2014 game based on the film of the same name, starring Andrew Garfield.
The panel will be moderated by Antonio Teoli, an award-winning composer and sound designer, and a pioneering figure in the Brazilian game industry. Teoli has composed music for titles such as *Taikodom*, *Finding Monsters Adventures*, *Rock'n'Rails*, *Jelly Splash*, and many others. With 15 years of experience, Teoli has worked on over 450 games across various platforms, including PC, mobile, SEGA Mega Drive, SEGA Master System, and Virtual Reality. He is currently working on the Brazilian game *Dolmen* and a secret project to be exclusively announced at this year's BIG Festival.
In addition to moderating the panel, Antonio Teoli will also conduct a workshop titled "How to Compose Music for Games" on June 30, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The workshop is aimed at music professionals and aspiring composers. It is free, but there are only 20 spots available.
