Game Design with Antonio Teoli
When the then high school senior Antonio Martins Teoli announced the news at home, his parents were almost knocked off their feet: he was going to apply for a college course in game design and planning.
"They thought it was a bad joke; after all, how was I going to make a living making video games?" laughs Teoli, now 19 years old. After the initial shock, he had to prove that his decision was serious. Today, he works at a well-known game company, where he is responsible for the music and sound effects of the games. "I managed to combine two of my passions: games and music.
But working with games requires dedication. It has nothing to do with lying on the couch playing all day. It's a job that demands concentration and creativity."
The technological development in Brazil boosted the creation of the course. "In addition to creating games, the course allows students to work in animation companies, website development, and various types of software," says Delmar Galisi, a professor and coordinator of the game course at Anhembi Morumbi. "But those interested shouldn't be under any illusions: it's not enough just to like games. You need to have a strong passion for technology."
